Trustee Nadine Daugherty
Nadine Daugherty_thumb.JPGI have had the honor to be your Trustee since 2001. I am a lifelong resident of Sugarcreek Township. I am a graduate from Bellbrook High School. I attended Miami Jacobs College and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Business. I then furthered my education by taking additional medical office training. In 1983 I started my own business in party planning, deliveries and catering while also working part-time in the medical field.

Besides working as your Trustee, I have been employed as a Business Manager at Radiology Physicians for 27 physicians at Miami Valley Hospital since 1994.

My husband, Bob, and I were married in 1980. We have three children, Greg, Paul and Jessica, who also graduated from Bellbrook High School.

I became actively involved in Township politics in the early 90’s when I was concerned about the rapid out of control development taking away our rural character. I did not want to see our hometown become another Main Street USA. I believe we have something special and unique in Sugarcreek Township with our scenic open space, wildlife, and natural resources such as the Little Miami River.

I started a grassroots organization, SOS! Save Our Sugarcreek for sensible, controlled development in the mid 90’s. SOS! grew to over 1,000 members in a few short months. I worked with and listened to my neighbors and fellow citizens. I attended Trustee meetings to make sure those voices were represented.

I served on the Township Comprehensive Land Use Plan committee for two years. We can create a sense of place with our Land Use Plan. We must enforce high standards for unique conservation developments. We need to work with developers who “think outside the box” by preserving scenic areas, trees, parks and walking paths. If we do not destroy what is valuable, we, including the developers, will all profit.

I encourage commercial growth in the designated areas outlined in the Land Use Plan. Sustainable commercial growth will ease the burden of the residential taxpayers without overburdening our schools. I want you to be able to afford to live here.

I am a fiscal watchdog on your tax dollars. I am often heard asking our Staff… “is that a want or a need?” We have to continue to be good stewards of your tax dollars and find ways to save money and cut back on expenses and still provide the excellent services that you are accustomed to receiving.

I am an active member of Bellbrook Methodist Church. I cherish our hometown family values that we have in our community. I have always worked to support community projects such as the Safe Routes to School, Farmer’s Market, Festivals, and Community Gardens.

I am always available to listen to your concerns and am an avid believer in open communication and transparency. My contact information is to the right. I always encourage public participation and hope to see you at our meetings.
