In January of 2007, Sugarcreek Township began work on updating our Comprehensive Development Plan and Zoning Resolution, with an eye on creating synergy between the documents, bringing them up to date with current conditions and making them easier to use and understand. An ad hoc advisory group was charged with reviewing the documents and making recommendations to the Board of Township Trustees.
COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Updates to the Comprehensive Development Plan were necessary to ensure that it was in concert with current policy. Changes in conditions that may have altered the assumptions and forecasts used to develop the previous plan adopted in 2001 needed to be evaluated. At the first meeting of the advisory group, it became evident that the overall goals of the 2001 Comprehensive Development Plan had seen little change. Issues addressed in the update included eliminating ambiguities, evaluating land uses in certain planning areas, and protecting the township's natural resources and rural character through the the promotion of conservation development. The updated Sugarcreek Township Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the Board of Trustees at a Public Hearing on November 5, 2007.
