BELLBROOK FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER DECEMBER UPDATE
Since the beginning of this State Fiscal Year (July 1, 2009), the Family Resource Center has seen more families with children living in poverty than any other state fiscal year.  At least 99 families will be receiving holiday assistance this season due to the coordination of Family Resource Center staff.  The largest request for holiday assistance from mothers this season is for household items such as laundry detergent and toilet paper.  The center lost 100% of its state funding which comprises 1/3 of its budget.  The center has seen an increase in volunteers and the community has stepped up to take care of the increased needs of individuals this holiday season.  Thank you all for your support of the center and people in need in our community.  For more information, please visit the Bellbrook Family Resouce Center's website.

EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION
DID YOU KNOW?
The CDC reported in 2006 that 1.6 million emergency room patients could not provide their emergency contact information because they were incapacitated. On September 8, 2008, Ohio became one of the first states to make a next of kin registration process available. Any holder of a valid Ohio driver license, commercial driver license, temporary permit or identification card has the option of providing the name and information of a contact person they wish to be notified in the event the individual is involved in a crash or emergency and is otherwise unable to communicate with the contact person. Next of kin/emergency contact information can be entered online at http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/ or you can download a form and send it to the Ohio BMV. Next of Kin registration is a result of a partnership between citizens, the legislature, ODPS, the BMV and local law enforcement who helped start the initiative in Ohio. ODPS is committed to working with all of its partners to develop and implement initiatives like this that will increase the level of service for Ohioans.

ICE YOUR PHONE
Originally established in the United Kingdom, the ICE YOUR PHONE campaign encourages cell phone users to enter in their emergency contact information into their cell phone under the heading of ICE, an acronym for In Case of Emergency. ICE allows paramedics or emergency responders to contact the designated relative/next of kin in an emergency situation in the event the user is incapacitated.
HOW TO ICE YOUR CELL PHONE:
Choose a responsible person to be your In Case of Emergency (ICE) Contact. Record their information.

Inform
your ICE Contact that you have chosen them as your designated contact and provide them with information that may affect your treatment. Remember to provide your "MAD", for Medicines, Allergies and Doctors.
Add
this contact as a new entry, with their phone number, in your mobile phone address book under the heading "ICE". Example: ICE-William or ICE-Dad.
Apply
an ICE Sticker to the back of your phone. This will serve as a visual alert that you have established a communication protocol. To get an ICE Sticker go to http://www.icesticker.com/store/.

Sugarcreek Township, Greene County - Investigators with the Division of State Fire Marshal’s Fire & Explosion Investigation Bureau, along with the Sugarcreek Township Police and the Sugarcreek Township Fire Department, today issued a request for help from the public in finding the person or persons responsible for an arson fire in Sugarcreek Township. The blaze at 3818 Fernwood Court in Sugarcreek Township was reported at 1:18 a.m. on November 18, 2007. Investigators say the fire destroyed the residence. "Arson is a serious crime that affects everyone in the community,” said State Fire Marshal Michael P. Bell. "We want to hear from anyone in these communities who may have seen something out of the ordinary or heard someone talking about these crimes.” The State Fire Marshal’s office has Blue Ribbon Arson reward signs posted at the property. The Blue Ribbon Arson Committee is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification of the person or persons responsible for the fire.
