SUGARCREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Fire officials in Sugarcreek Township said residents of five apartments were forced out of their homes after a roaring fire tore through the complex early Monday morning.
The fire happened at an apartment complex near Wilmington Pike and Route 725.
Firefighters said when they arrived at the scene, flames were shooting through the roof. They said everyone managed to escape the inferno safely.
Fire officials said firefighters stayed on the scene for about six hours, but they plan to return in the daylight to help determine what sparked the blaze.
Investigators said four units were completed destroyed in the fire, while a fifth unit suffered a lot of smoke and water damage.
The apartment management is trying to help those who were burned out of their apartment find another place to stay. The Red Cross is also helping those who were affected.
